Earlier this week, Strathmore Agrifood Innovation Center (SAFIC), through the Community of Practice (CoP), convened a Millet Production Workshop aimed at strengthening the millet value chain and exploring opportunities for sustainable transformation in the sector.
The workshop brought together partners and stakeholders to address key aspects of millet production, including seed support delivery, value creation, and the establishment of a dedicated working group to tackle specific gaps within the value chain.
A major highlight of the discussions was the exploration of shared risk models to support interventions in critical areas such as aggregation, production, agronomy, and data flows. Participants emphasized that strategic collaboration across the ecosystem is essential to building inclusive and resilient food systems.
In reflecting on the outcomes, SAFIC noted the importance of collective effort and knowledge-sharing. The Community of Practice continues to serve as a vital platform for learning, co-creation, and thought leadership.
The workshop concluded with a strong commitment from stakeholders to continue working together to unlock the potential of millet.
