SAFIC and AKADEMIYA Workshop focusing on Strengthening Kenya’s Agri-Food Data Ecosystem

Today marks the start of a strategic partnership between the Strathmore Agri-Food Innovation Center (SAFIC) and AKADEMIYA2063, ushering in a new era of data-driven transformation in Kenya’s agriculture sector.

Hosted at Strathmore Business School (SBS), this workshop convened key stakeholders from government, research institutions, and the private sector to envision the future of agriculture through more innovative data use.
Workshop objectives included:
🔹 Finalize collaboration between the Local Analytical Network (LAN) and Agri-Markets Community of Practice (CoP) to align data supply with policy demand.
🔹 Identify Agri-Food data gaps that a Smart Cluster-Based Data System can help bridge for improved coordination and integration.
🔹 Explore using cutting-edge tools like Seed2Profit, AAgWa, and the ReSAKSS eAtlas to close knowledge gaps and support better decision-making.
🔹 Pilot a harmonized value chain prioritization methodology tailored to the Kenyan context.
🔹 Establish a joint framework for sustained collaboration between SAFIC and AKADEMIYA2063.
🔹 Draft a detailed action plan to operationalize this transformative agenda.

We’re not just collecting data we’re building a smarter, more resilient food system for Kenya.
